Best artists pencils
Gave this set of pencils to my grandson who is a budding artist. He was very excited as he says these are the best pencils an artist can get. They blend wonderfully and are great for either bold lines or shading. This particular set only has 12 colors, and being the "landscape" set, the colors are selected for that type of drawing. But this is a great investment for determining whether you want to invest in a larger set of Primacolor pencils. This made it an easy decision on our part, going to buy the 72 pencil set for him now.

Prismacolor colored pencils are not only affordable but produce amazong colors that are able to blend together so beautifully you’ll never want to use another brand!
Before now, I assumed all colored pencils were more or less the same. After watching an artist use these Prismcolor Premier Soft Core Colored Pencils I realized that is not the case at out. Not only does the pigmentation seem to pop off the page, the blend-ability of the colors is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before with “generic” brands. I colored these beautiful gradients where the colors just so seamlessly blended into one another I was blown away! The other amazing thing about Prismacolor is they are the most affordable professional grade color pencil on the market! Yet tank up there with brands that are double even triple the price! I can not recommend these enough to anyone that is looking for the best all around color pencils for your artwork!

Vibrant blendable colored pencils you must have!
I have both the verithin and the soft core prisma packs and my favorite is the soft core 48 ct tin pack! The vibrant colors go on the the paper so smoothly it’s better than crayons or markers! I am super impressed on how well you can easily blend colors together with these (especially the soft core). I’ve been able to use them in quite a bit and still have a lot left. I shared my most recent project in the pictures below :) make sure you get the prisma sharpener! It works best with them and they work best staying sharpened.

Prismacolor pencils are great for aspiring artists
Although I do not have the exact set that I chose to review these prismacolor pencils are wonderful all around. They are greatly pigmented and provide many different colors for shading and blending. The packaging is very satisfying to someone like me because every pencil has a place. They are very durable pencils and are great for kids getting into art or already in it! I have attached photos of the specific box I have as well as a picture I drew a couple years back using only prismacolor pencils and an inspiration photo!

High quality color pencils
Pros
1. High quality pencils with soft wax core.
2. Vibrant colors and plenty of color shades. Soft core allows easy layering and blending.
3. Works best with the prismacolor sharpener (not included) which offers 2 types of tips.
Cons
1. Soft wax core - so sometimes they can break easy while sharpening. Power users will easy run thru one pencil in a few days.
2. Buying individual pencils can be expensive for power users - generally $1-$2 per pencil. Black/white/skin colors etc are needed the most.

Brings luminosity to my pieces
I adore these pencils. They feel tailor-made for floral drawings; the curation including different values of green and red provide for nearly limitless possibilities. Subtle changes in pressure during use gives buildable intensity and allows for layering of different hues for undertones and special effects. I appreciate that they come with a tin and tray divider for ease of storage and protection of the product. Essential for serious pencil artists
These are definitely not cheap but I’ve used them for many years to create my artworks and they’ve stuck with me til now. The brand does sell individual colors at art stores so it’s easy to restock the set if a pencil is running low. The pigment and waxiness of these pencils is very easy to work with and the result is a very vibrant piece of art. The more neutral colors can be used to create a beautiful monochrome piece as well if working on colored paper that is just as vibrant (great or black paper) if not more.

Vibrant, blendable pencils with tons of variety—ha
The Prismacolor Premier 150 set is amazing for both beginners and serious artists. The colors are super pigmented, vibrant, and go down very smoothly. They blend beautifully, making it easy to create gradients and shading. The variety of shades means I never feel limited, and the packaging keeps everything organized. The only downside is the softness of the cores, which means they can break if you’re not careful, but with a good sharpener they last a long time. Overall, totally worth it for the quality and range.

Worth the money to invest in your drawings!
In my opinion, these are definitely one of the best pencils you can buy on the market. Although they’re not cheap, they’re reasonable for the quantity and quality you get. The packaging is sleek and secure, so protects the pencils well. The overall performance of the pencils is magnificent. The blending of the colours is perfect, easy layering to create a better drawing. Very strong pigmentation, and various colour options. I would recommend these colours to any artist, they’re definitely a worthy investment.

Great all around set
This assortment of 36 is about all you need. The variety of colors covers makes color choice easy. It comes in a very nice tin which would be excellent for travelling.
These pencils are described as soft, but I found them to work well for all my colored pencil work. They blend well either by rubbing or with OMS. Prismacolor describes them as being primarily for blending and shading, but I was able to get very good sharp detail after some trying. I have not sharpened all of the colors but those that I did sharpened well with no breakage. This would be an excellent assortment for beginners as it is easy to get overwhelmed with large color assortments when starting out. Plus they are very easy to use and produce outstanding results. The price is very reasonable and quite a good value.

Great Product!
There is a HUGE variety of colours to choose from. I got this as a gift for my birthday since I am very artsy and I will say this is a great gift choice for someone who likes colouring or doing art in general. The durability of these pencil crayons is absolutely amazing!!! I can easily blend the colours together since I have a lot of pencil crayons to choose from and theres a lot of different shades so I can blend easily. And the way that everything is shaped and packaged is super cool and satisfying!

Easy to use and great pigments!
Prismacolor Pencil Sets have seriously saved me for my Art coursework and for my hobbies in general!! They are easily blendable and have great pigments that are true to the packaging that they come in. The soft pencil lead makes it easy to smudge but can be manipulated to create an effect on your work, yet can also be layered. Would 100% recommend investing in these pencils - buy the smaller packs first to make sure you’re used to them first though as it took me a minute to get used to the quality :-)

Pleasantly surprised
Well, I am not normally the color pencil type i normally just go with what i know which is gel pens or alcohol markers, but i was very surprised by how much I liked these and i feel like its honestly because of the soft core and I have 2 reasons that I say that...
1- They blend together like a dream
2- Since they don't have such a hard led core, they don't leave such uglyhard lines
Oh and I can't forget to mention how beautiful the colors are😍😍😍
So I will definitely repurchase these guys again

So smooth - Like drawing with butter
I own multiple sets of Prismacolor colored pencils, and I absolutely love working with them. They have a smooth lay down and are vibrant in pigmentation. The white pencil is also one of the best to use for highlights. I included two drawings I recently completed in an online course, and I only used Prismacolor. The texture and color are lovely, and I was able to achieve wonderful detail and blended colors beautifully without using solvent (I only used 5 pencils to create all the colors on the bird). Prismacolor are also the most affordable higher-end pencils available. My only caution is that sometimes shipping can cause core breakage, causing a pencil to repeatedly snap when sharpening. I also love that these pencils are sold open-stock, so you can easily replace needed colors.

i love them but...
I have been using Prismacolor for years. It started in high school, and I loved them a lot back then. I recently purchased this 150-piece set and found many inconsistencies and defects. It's sad to say that quality has gone down. The lead is still soft so it still breaks and can be hard to sharpen sometimes. The lay down is smooth and they are relatively easy to blend. layering is great. I have found with the bigger set I get what I would describe as color overwhelm. I may or may not buy it again.

These colored pencils are the best I have ever had! They’re vibrant, smooth, and they sharpen wonderfully! These Prismacolor colored pencils never break while I am drawing, and they make blending a breeze!

Worth the cost!
Prismacolor seems expensive but it’s one place to splurge if you enjoy coloring even occasionally. You will never go back to coloring with crayons or another brand again. There are so many colors and they blend to make more. If you happen to use one pencil excessively they sell replacements individually. The pencils sharpen clean without breaking so there is less waste there. They just really are the best. I’ve had my set for years which is why the package is different but the quality remains.

Amazing and well packaged
so first of all it is AMAZING soft , blend easily and the result is great . about the breaking issue honestly I sharpened many colors of the set many times and it didn't break not even once .
a tip before you start using your set take a hair dryer and try to move the heat all over the pencils then leave them for 15 to 30 minutes to cool down . this way you will avoid any breaking issues while sharpening your pencils .
I definitely recommend prismacolor pencils for anyone who loves to draw

As someone who relied heavily on Prismacolor pencils throughout art school, I can confidently say they are in a league of their own. These pencils were more than just a tool—they were an extension of my creativity. The blendability is where they truly shine. Colors melt seamlessly into one another without that waxy buildup or patchiness that cheaper brands tend to leave behind.
One thing I always appreciated was the lack of smudging from pencil shavings—something that might seem small, but makes a huge difference when you’re working on detailed or time-sensitive pieces. The pigment are rich and vibrant, with a finish that makes every color pop off the page. And unlike some other pencils, Prismacolors layer beautifully. With or without the use of water! (CHECK OUT THEIR WATER COLOUR OPTIONS!!!).

Best colored pencils on the market
These pencils are literal artist heaven! The colors are insanely rich, creamy, and blend like a dream—perfect for layering and shading. There’s such a gorgeous variety, it’s impossible not to feel inspired just looking at them. I love how smooth they glide on paper, and they make my sketches look so much more professional. The only con is that the leads can break if you press too hard, so you gotta be a little gentle. Overall though worth every penny if you’re serious about your art!

I've tried many brands, but Prismacolor Premier pencils remain my favorites for one reason: their creamy texture. The 150-color set is impressive because it offers a smooth, even blend The tones are almost perfect, which makes blending and blending much easier without leaving harsh lines.

If your like me coloring in your adulthood is just another way to relieve stress and anxiety . Vibrant colors
I bought these for my kids and the colors are great. Very vibrant, the tin it comes in is nice and they seem to be enjoying them. Sturdy and well made pencils, sometimes I try to go cheap on the art supplies because the kids go through it quickly but it definitely made a difference to get these high quality colored pencils. The kids didn't have to press down as hard to make the colors show up well and overall just a quality product. I'll definitely purchase from prismacolor again.

The most smooth application
I love these pencils and they are so buttery smooth on paper. They are easy to sharpen and feel very premium build. They layer on lovely and blend so smoothly. They are a slight pricey but they are premium feel and great for artists as well as children and beginners. I have several sets and make sure I stay in stock because I can’t go without them when drawing or coloring and they last awhile. Definitely would recommend these pencils first to anyone looking for coloring pencils.
