Virginia Larrea was born in Ecuador. She earned a Bachelors degree in Architecture at the Institute of Technology at Monterrey, Mexico and a Masters of Architecture from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
Virginia moved to Tampa, Florida in 1993, where she currently makes her home, opened her design studio in 2000, and currently teaches at the Art Institute of Tampa as an interior design faculty. She also teaches art to children and volunteers her time with several groups around the Tampa Bay area, teaching plein air in pastel and oils. With pastels and oils she captures the Florida outdoors and tropical settings that surround the beautiful location where she lives. Virginia still works in watercolor when she feels the media will enhance a particular feature on her painting.
Virginia is a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, Oil Painters of America, Southeastern Pastel Society, the Florida Plein Air Society, Pastel Society of Tampa Bay, Associate AIA and LEED AP. Her work has won many awards and she is represented by Great Art Gallery in Tampa and Watson Gallery in Atlanta. Her work can also be seen at www.virginialarrea.com |
