I am still very much a newbie and student, although an enthusiast. :) I have seen so many different techniques proven in all different kinds of media that I have come to the understanding that there is no incorrect way to create your art. So, the tip is: Your art is always correct, because it is art. Do what makes you feel good about your work and don't focus on math or geometry or realistic attributes of your work. Be expressive! :)
